May Highlights: Events and Achievements

As we move closer to summer, Startup Greece turned up the heat a month early. Join us as we take you through an exciting May with our highlights.

This month, we had the opportunity to participate in not one but two TEDx events: TEDxKlonatzidika in Tripoli and TEDxNTUA in Athens. Some of our team members provided expert feedback to promising entrepreneurs on their ideas, while our HR team offered resume and interview tips.

Crete Endeavors

Our love for Crete never fails to prevail. Our Managing Director, Thanos Paraschos, had the honor of being invited to the Technical University of Crete, where he shared his experiences and insights on opportunities for students in engineering as part of the Small-Medium Enterprises & Innovation course.

Innovation Norway’s Athens Team, hosted Sector Officer Camilla Langsholt and Country Officer Steinar Ingi Matthiasson, from the EEA and Norway Grants for project visits in Crete and Athens. The gatherings purpose was to showcase the projects funded through the “Business Innovation Greece” programme. From our side we were excited to present the results of our project “Bifrost,” and to receive invaluable insights and constructive feedback. The meeting was facilitated by Innovation Norway.

Global Impact

As the month continued, we participated in the Changemakers Summit 2024, celebrating Europe Day alongside other organizations. We presented our actions and demonstrated how talent and startups can enhance their social footprint.

Meanwhile, three SG members travelled to Berlin, Germany, as part of an EU4Youth mobility program. They engaged in the EUYOUTH4EUGOALS workshop where participants from various European countries discussed EU Youth Goal #1. They explored the role of startups showcasing how entrepreneurial initiatives can drive innovation and create job opportunities for young people. Finally, they received essential resources for fostering unity and innovation.

Local Impact

The month concluded with three team members representing Startup Greece at the Career Day organized by the Department of Economics and Technology of the University of Peloponnese. They communicated our actions, conducted interviews, and offered CV tips. In total, they collected CVs from 28 talented individuals, captured memorable moments, and hosted small interviews with the students.

Thank you to all the amazing people who came to meet us. Your participation made all these events a huge success!

Stay tuned for what comes next.
