Hi everyone, and happy new month!

June was a month that led us to different places. From Geneva, Istanbul, and Cantabria to major innovation events in Athens. The Startup Greece team continued strengthening its role as a bridge between the Greek startup ecosystem and European and Mediterranean markets.

Youth Entrepreneurship Meets the Maritime Economy

The month started with SG participating in the YES to Shipping Forum, held during Posidonia on 5 June 2026 at the Metropolitan Expo in Athens.

The forum connected young professionals, entrepreneurs, shipping companies, and maritime innovation stakeholders. Our participation supported the exchange of ideas on how entrepreneurship, technology, and youth engagement can contribute to the future of the Greek shipping industry and the wider Mediterranean blue economy.

2nd UfM Study Visit on International Trade and Investment Policy

Our Managing Director, Thanos Paraschos, represented Startup Greece at the 2nd Union for the Mediterranean Study Visit on International Trade and Investment Policy, held in Geneva from 16 to 18 June 2026.

Organised by the Union for the Mediterranean, in cooperation with UN Trade and Development and the World Trade Organization, the study visit focused on digital trade, investment facilitation, and resilient investment strategies.

The discussions explored how international trade frameworks can help startups access new markets, attract foreign investment, and scale beyond national borders.

Supporting Founders at EnvolveXL Founders Arena

On 16 June, Startup Greece participated as a Community Partner at the Founders Arena by EnvolveXL, hosted at Technopolis City of Athens.

The event brought together startup founders, investors, mentors, business leaders, and innovation organisations for a day of networking, knowledge exchange, and entrepreneurial collaboration.

Startup Greece at Beyond Expo 2026

On 17 June, Startup Greece participated in Beyond Expo 2026 in Athens, one of the leading technology and innovation events in Southeast Europe.

The event brought together startups, corporates, investors, public institutions, and technology leaders, creating space for discussions around digital transformation, entrepreneurship, and the future of innovation in Greece and beyond.

Social Entrepreneurship for Safer and More Inclusive Communities

On 19 June, Startup Greece joined the kick-off meeting of the project “Social Entrepreneurship for Youth and Community-Based Security Solutions” in Istanbul.

The project brings together international partners to explore how social entrepreneurship can empower young people and support safer, more inclusive, and resilient communities. During the meeting, partners established the project’s main priorities, responsibilities, and upcoming activities.

From Waste to Worth: Final Project Meeting in Spain

The final transnational partner meeting of the From Waste to Worth project took place in Sarón, Cantabria, Spain.

Startup Greece was represented by Kyriakos Germanakos and Manolis Kontaxakis, who joined the project partners to evaluate the project’s results, exchange good practices, and discuss how its educational resources can continue creating impact.

The project promoted:

  • Circular economy awareness.
  • Green entrepreneurship.
  • Environmental education.
  • Practical learning for young people and youth workers.
  • Sustainable approaches to waste reduction and reuse.

The meeting marked an important milestone in a project that connected sustainability, education, and youth participation.

Advancing Innovation in the Mediterranean Blue Economy

Startup Greece, represented by Andreas Klapsis, took part in the Mediterranean Blue Economy Hubs initiative.

The initiative connects innovation ecosystems, maritime organisations, entrepreneurs, and regional stakeholders working to promote sustainable growth and smart specialisation across the Mediterranean. Andreas had the opportunity to exchange ideas with innovators, investors and ecosystem builders across the region.

Developing New European Project Partnerships

Throughout the month, the Startup Greece team held discussions with organisations across Europe regarding future collaborations under programmes such as:

  • Horizon Europe.
  • Digital Europe.
  • Erasmus+.

Startup Greece can contribute to European projects through:
