Startup Greece November Highlights

November was a month filled with significant milestones, international engagements, and community-building activities for Startup Greece. Join us as we take a look back at November’s highlights:

Showcasing Greek Innovation at Web Summit 2024

The month began with our Managing Director, Thanos Paraschos, joining Greek startup founders at Web Summit 2024 in Lisbon. Representing Greece at the Greek Booth, sponsored by Enterprise Greece SA, Thanos engaged in high-profile discussions,.including a meeting with Morocco’s Minister of Digital Transition and Administration Reform. Their conversation explored opportunities to strengthen ties between Greek and Moroccan startup ecosystems. The meetup highlighted the impact of the Startup Universe Morocco initiative.and the opportunities it offers for entrepreneurs across Africa and Europe.

Insights and Connections in SME Assembly 2024

From there, Thanos travelled to Budapest for the SME Assembly 2024, the premier event for European small and medium enterprises. With panels, workshops, and networking opportunities, the assembly highlighted the importance of creating simpler cross-border policies,.strengthening investor partnerships, and maintaining Europe’s leadership in sustainability. One of the standout sessions was the Schumpeter Lecture, where Professor Johan Wiklund emphasized building innovation ecosystems that bring diverse stakeholders together to drive growth.

Strengthening Intercultural Dialogue in Thrace

Meanwhile, on the home front, our Intercultural Affairs Manager, Manolis Kontaxakis, represented Startup Greece at the Anna Lindh Foundation National Meeting in Komotiní, Thrace. The event brought together organizations from across the Mediterranean to discuss inclusivity, cultural exchange, and sustainable partnerships. It was an inspiring opportunity to connect with like-minded organizations working to foster dialogue and cooperation across borders.

Welcoming New Talent

As the month drew to a close, we welcomed two new interns from Poland and Cyprus to the Startup Greece team. At the same time, we bid farewell to two other interns who had completed their time with us. To mark this transition, the team came together to celebrate with a traditional Greek feast, sharing stories, laughter, and delicious food.

As we transition into the holiday season, our team has begun preparing for December’s Youth Academy event. This initiative will feature workshops, expert speakers, and opportunities to connect with industry leaders, focusing on fostering the next generation of change-makers.
